How can I compare coordinate geometry to a lab experiment? A proof is like a hypothesis. It can be proven or disproved. But a coordinate proof differs from a standard proof. A coordinate proof is like an independent variable. It can change, and it will effect the dependent variable (theorem).

Basically, what I'm trying to say, is that I've been asked to compare coordinate geometry with an appropriate substitute. I have a basic understanding of coordinate proofs, and the only comparison I can come up with relates to hypothesis, variable, constant, etc.
