-273 is hypothetical temperature at which volume of the gas would become zero. Why this temperature has never been achieved?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its very difficult to reach those temperatures.. you would require infinitely high amount of energy!!.. remember to keep an object coldest of its surroundings work has to be done.. !! the colder you wanna keep it .. more the work you gotta do!!..

OpenStudy (jkasdhk):

thanks! can u tell me faraday's method of liquefication of gases?

OpenStudy (jkasdhk):

?

OpenStudy (jkasdhk):

and please help me in my other question...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ermm i really donno what you talking about.. but high pressures can liquify gasses easily!!

OpenStudy (jkasdhk):

the other question is about chemistry

OpenStudy (jkasdhk):

An inflated car tyre is considered to have a constant volume regardless of any changes in temperature or pressure. Use the Kinetic theory of gases to answer the following questions: a) How does the air in tyre exert a pressure on the walls of the tyre? b) Why is the pressure the same at all points on the inside walls of the tyre? c) What happens to the pressure on the inside walls of the tyre if the temperature of the air increases? Explain your answer. d) What happen when more air is pumped into the tyre while the temperature is kept constant?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lets answer this one by one!!... tell me what you think of a)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Regarding the first question of this thread. As the temperature of a gas is lowered it reaches the temperature of phase transition at the current pressure. Here it liquifies to a reduce volume and may shrink slightly more as the temperature is reduced but will not go to zero. Absolute zero has been approached to within 10^-13 degrees Kelvin.

OpenStudy (jkasdhk):

But it says that the volume is constant, regardless of any changes in temperature and pressure.. ?

OpenStudy (jkasdhk):

I GOT IT!! Thanks! What about b ?

OpenStudy (jkasdhk):

@Mashy Can u help me with my recent asked question??

OpenStudy (jkasdhk):

in chemistry
