what is a point of inflection? - Calc 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The point of inflection is where a a function changes concavity.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so in this equation could you explain it please \[f(x)=\frac{x^2+7}{x+5}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Look for roots of the second derivative.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not sure what that means

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Differentiate twice to get the second derivative. Then find where the second derivative becomes 0.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Since the point of inflection are when concavity changes, and concavity is based on whether the second derivative is >0 or <0, that makes \(f''(x)=0\) a good candidate.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

got it

wiat so its the relitve minumum?
