34/6=2x+1/3

OpenStudy (abb0t):

\[\frac{ 34 }{ 6 } = 2x+\frac{ 1 }{ 3 }\] STEPS: 1. Subtract 2. Divide by 2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait no, it's like this \[\frac{ 34 }{ 6}=\frac{ 2x+1 }{ 3 }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:p

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Well, in that case, you can factor out a 1/3 \[\frac{ 2x+1 }{ 3 } = \frac{ 1 }{ 3 }(2x+1)\] STEPS: 1. multiply by 3 2. subtract. 3. divide by 2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

draw it step by step please cuz im confused. for me proportions are hard :c

OpenStudy (abb0t):

\[\frac{ 34 }{ 6 } (\frac{ 3 }{ 1 })=2x+1\] that's step 1. Now, Step 2. Try it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{ 34 }{ 2 }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what happened to the 3 of 2x+1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

34/2+2X+1 I DIVIDE 34 by 2 and then i get 17=2x+1 then i find like terms and simplify. 2x=16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=8?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@abb0t

OpenStudy (abb0t):

You're solving for x! That's why i multipled the 3 to the 34/6.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is my answer correct?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Not quite.

OpenStudy (abb0t):

You should get a decimal number or fractional number, depending on howu you leave your answer. But 34รท 3 does not give a whole number. Also, when you subtract 1 and divide by 2 x = decimal (or fraction)

OpenStudy (abb0t):

I'm being a bit vague because I want you to try it first and learn. I don't want to just give you the answer :P
