A system of linear equations has a graph of 2 coincidental lines. Part 1: Are the slopes the same or different? Part 2: Are the x and y intercepts the same or different? Part 3: How many solutions would this system of equations have?

OpenStudy (jkristia):

coincidental = lines are on top of each other (I hope this i correct). So is the slope the same? (the lines are on top of each other) Are the intercepts the same? (lines are on top of each other) The number of solutions are given by the number of places where the 2 lines shares the same point, so the number of solutions are ?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Helpful interpretation, jkristia. Thanks. Might think of "coincidental" lines as "two lines that are in practical terms one and the same."
