I'm trying to figure out if I use an internet translator, like Google translator, to read webpages used in my paper, do I need to site that I used them? I have to write my papers in APA format. Thanks in advance for your help!
Babelfish is good. Google Translate is also good. That said, the only perfect or even remotely competent translator is a human. Or a very expensive program. As a fluent speaker of both English and Russian, I shudder at mechanic translations both of English to Russian and Russian to English. So take your results with a grain of salt.
Thank you for the input. Sometimes the translations provided are laughable, I agree. Any thoughts on if I need to cite the use of a translator in my paper? I'm writing a paper on Japanese health concerns, and have references some health sites based in Japan that are written in Japanese (mostly they are for group organizations, and I used the translators to find out when they were established and what their goals as an organization are). Thanks again!!! :)
MLA is not my strong suite. Erm, http://www.ehow.com/how_4425623_cite-translated-book-using-mla.html ?
Thank you for your feedback, however I have to write my papers in APA format :-/ I found a similar article by eHow for APA format, but they do not reference what to do in the case of using a translation tool, such as Google translator. Thanks again though!!
