Checking my answers What is the simplified form of the expression 3[14 ÷ (42 – 32) – 5] I got -9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hold on a sec, im calculating

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Kay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you show me how you did the work on this just so i can c how you did it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I dont have the paper I did it on I just remember that I got -9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[3[14 ÷ (42 – 32) – 5]\]parentheses first \[3[14 ÷ (10) – 5]\]now the division before the subtraction \[3[1.4-5]\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, jus a sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

woah, he beat me to it, good job @satellite73

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so if i subtract 1.4-5 and then multiply that answer by 3 that will be it simplified?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then that would be 10.8 but that isn't right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I also got 10.8... that's not one of the choices then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'm just going to stick to my first instinct and say its -9

OpenStudy (anonymous):
