Exponential Functions a) (3/4)^-2 b) 6^-1/3x6^5/6 Rewrite the expressions as a single power with a positive exponent the evaluate. No Decimal Answers. Please explain how you do so please os I can understand. Thankyou

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a this is the same thing as raising 4/3^2. So by flipping the fraction I can just square as you would normally. (4/3)^2 is 16/9. The same thing as 3/4^-2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What about b?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do I only flip the first fraction?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 72. Is it correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

flipping the first fraction means instead of raising to a power of -2, you can just raise to a power of 2. so 4/3^2 is16/9.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes I have completed that. What about b?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think that with b the best thing is this. 6^-1 / 3 x 6^5/6 ? this is the expression yes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So bring the ^5/6 up to the numerator. And subtract. Giving 6^-11/6 divided by 3. So this finishes up being 2 ^-11/6.
