OpenStudy (anonymous):

so for the first triangle perimeter, p1, is ; p1 = 2y + x = 14 for the second triangle perimeter, p2, is; p2 = (5/4)y + (5/4) y + 3x = 21 p2 = (5/2)y + 3x so you need to solve the simultaneous equations 2y + x = 14 (5/2)y + 3x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the bottom one should be (5/2)y + 3x = 21

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, how would I solve those?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you need to get just one variable in an equation first. So i would eliminate the x's by multiplying the top equation by 3. Now both equations have "3x" and you can subtract the top equation from the bottom to get a formula with just y's.

Okay.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then you can solve that to find the value of y, plug it back in the original equation and you can find out x

Thanks.
