So i am having a hard time figuring out which equation to use to help me solve this problem..... A ball is thrown horizontally from a platform so that the initial height of the ball is 6.0 m above the level ground below. The ball lands 24 m from its original horizontal location. Find how fast the ball was thrown.
alright so how long does it take the ball to fall 6m?
6=(.5)a*t find t a=acceleration due to gravity in this case
where did you get the .5 from?
\[v _{f}=v _{i }+a \Delta t\] follows after cherio's setup
.5 comes from \[x _{f}=x _{i}+v _{i}\Delta t + (.5)a \Delta t^{2}\]
you can use the time from that equation and then plug it into the equation I wrote above to calculate the initial velocity.
im still confused
solve for t from cherio's equation. plug that value into the the equation i posted. solve for v _i
