does anyone know how to do a inout and output table with a rule
Input and outputs as in functions?
yea
Do you have any specific problem?
yea the top starts from -2 and goes to 2 and the bottom is blank
And the function/rule is?
y=-20x
Perfect. now insert the values in place of "x" one by one. Let's say -2, -1, 0, 1, 2.
what do you mean??
y = -20x is the function, right? insert the values one by one. y = -20(-2) y = output Then -1 y = -20(-1) y = output And so on..
i dont get this
Why? Which part?
how would you insert values?
Replace "x" with a value is inserting the value.
so how would i use that in a function table
Those will give you certain values of "y". The values of "y" are the outputs.
A function is usually written like f(x)=rule. So for you equation y=-20x, you can see this as a function by changing it to f(x)=-20x where x in an input value into the function. If you want to find the value of that function at -2, you would write f(-2)=-20(-2)=40. Now you have a point at x=-2 and y=40. So you put that in your table. Then you go and do each other value of x from your input column.
ok? y makes more sense ok so the what would be after that
Insert the resulted value in the table. Simple as that.
|dw:1358631840798:dw|
The resulting value from your function y=-20x is an output. 'y' IS an output. 'x' IS an input. Take your input 'x' from your table and put it into your function... calculate the function to get your 'y' output.
