1. When writing linear equations, how do you determine which form of a line to use? 2. Write an equation in point-slope form for the line that passes through the pair of points Then, use the same set of points to write the equation in standard form and again in slope-intercept form. (5, 1), (–3, 4)
the first question... In what sense? When writing equations to solve for variables or when writing an equation of a line.
writing an equation of a line
You write an equation of a line, you want to use slope intercept form because this shows the slope and y-intercept clearly. I can't remember what form Ax+By=C is called, I think standard form, yoou should look that up. I never use it unless another equation is setup the same way and I want to use the elimination method to solve for the unknowns
Number 2: First find the slope between the two points. then use just one point and the slope in the point slope form y-y1=m(x-x1) to solve for the other two forms
