Does anyone know something about the self-control from the neurology's point of view ?
I think you mean neurological point of view. That's actually a very interesting question, which class are you getting this from if I may ask? Seems a little too advanced for basic biology.
Yeah, neurological. I'm sorry, I'm French so my english is a bit approximative. I'm in first year of bachelor. This is a very interdisciplinary bachelor but the main subject is biology. I have to present a project and I decided to talk about the self-control from a neurological (did I get it right ?) point of view. But I really don't know where to begin to search, so I ask here first, and I will begin to look for papers tomorrow;
Neurological = Neurologique (I believe, I'm not totally fluent 'en Francais') Anyway, well, self control would likely be determined in one of the frontal lobes of the brain. I'm not sure if studies of self control have actually been very fruitful... out of all the subjects humans have studied in the past 200 years, neurology is still probably one of the most difficult and unknown. There's a ridiculous amount of things we still haven't figured out. We know the regions of the brain involved in the process, but I'm not sure we know exactly how it works. We know from functional imaging that the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex plays a big part though. Unfortunately, this type of neurology is still in its baby stages. There's many scientists working on problems like these, attempting to map out the human conscious in its entirety.
Human conscience* Sentience. ... They're trying to determine what makes us tick basically. I'm trying to use basic English since you mentioned you were French.
tl;dr dorsolateral prefrontal cortex & "get back to us in 50 years"
That's kind of you, I've understood all that you just said. Are you studying french ? I've talked to some of my teachers and during my internship in neurology, I asked a lot of questions and the answers were the same : "we are at the beggining of the discoveries". I don't have to make a thesis, basically, but I'd like to get some good informations and have something to work on. Howerver, what you said are very usefull to me. I'm going to read about those parts of the brain. Thanks a lot !
Haha. Not really "studying" as "teaching myself by talking to native Frenchmen online"/ No problem, glad to help! It was fun to research, a legitimately interesting question compared to most on here. :)
Can I come back to you if I have some questions about it ? Pleasure to meet you anyway :)
Sure, any time. Pleasure to meet you as well.
