OpenStudy (koikkara):

how many bones do a body contain ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Adult humans have 206 bones.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Babies are born with about 300 bones though. As we grow older, some of those little tiny bones fuse together, to form larger bones. By the time we're "our age," we should have 206 bones.

OpenStudy (koikkara):

exactly, i too thought the same...but, soon got a doubt.....whether teeth comes along with this count.....?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Our teeth don't count amongst our bones. Take a look at this article: http://www.lifeslittlemysteries.com/1225-why-are-teeth-not-considered-bones.html The marrow inside of our bones produces blood cells. Our teeth don't do that. Our bones also have the ability to repair themselves. Our teeth can't do that.

OpenStudy (koikkara):

ofcourse, they can reproduce enamel....but, has to wait so long....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The enamel? It can't regenerate itself, no. Take a look at this article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tooth_enamel Read the "Development" section.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

As of four years ago though, scientists are trying to develop a way to regenerate tooth enamel, through genetic engineering. http://www.guardian.co.uk/education/2009/feb/24/dental-research-enamel-gene
