x = 3x isn't a line, do you mean x = 3? That is a vertical line passing through (3,0).

y = 3 is a horizontal line passing through (0, 3).

actually i meant what if you need to find a slope...what would if do if the problem was (1, -5)= 0

I don't understand what (1,-5) = 0 is supposed to represent. (1, -5) is a point. 0 is a number.

on a coordinate grid you would plot 1,-5 and then you would go on that point and the number that it equals like 0 would indicate if you will rise or go down
