When you multiply a positive number and a negative number together, the result is negative. Example, (-10)(2) = -20 Now try (-3)(10) =

-36 ? multiplication in the decimal system is made by multiplying each digit by the corespondent digit and then multiplying by the necessary power of 10. ex -12*3= -(1*3*10^1+2*3*10^0) and you take the right sign. You count the minuses, if they are even you get plus, else you get minus. So in your case 1 minus hence odd=> hence minus and you get -36. You should learn the table for multiplying in the decimal system(radix 10 it's called). In my country we learn it when we are 7-8 years old.
