Read the statement shown below. “A tiger is a cat, and a cat has two legs.” Which statement has the same truth value as the above statement?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A poodle is a cat, or a dog has four legs. An ostrich is a bird, and a bird has two legs. An ostrich is an insect, or all insects have five wings. A poodle is a dog, or a poodle has two eyes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think it is B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'd say A but I'm not sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk..they all say or except for B which says and like the original statement

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Both statements in B are true. Both statements in C are false. Both statements in D are true. The first statement in A is false, but the second is true. I guess it is A, is it is also half-true, just like the example.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and that makes it have the same truth value?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because they are both half wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I guess the amount and or order of true and false statements, not sure though.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If it is A then only the ratio true/false statements matters i suppose :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok im gonna look up what makes two statements have the same truth values

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im curious too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok based on my reading you seem correct..i just dont want to get this wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can imagine :) Well this seems the only way to interpret it...I guess?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it seems that setting up a truth table would get you th answer but i dont know how to do this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i guess it is saying p ^~q now find a statement that equals that...does ~p v q

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im not very familiar with Logic :) Only the part that can be reasoned..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok ill give you a medal if u were right lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol ok you got me curious :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i had few problems with geometry until i got to this.............

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well this is not geometry, this is Logic (another subject)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well it is on my geometry test :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That is weird...well as said, if I have to give any interpretation to "truth value" it would be the amount of truth in the statement. A simple statement can be false or true, so two statements can be true, half-true or false.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so a..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is what i was debating
