Spanish help please??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

¿Qué necesitas, cariño?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

¿Cuáles se emparejan? A. bonita B. bonito C. bonitos D. bonitas 1. casas 2. coches 3. escuela 4. ejército For questions 5–9, fill in the blank with the letter of the description that best matches the term. ¿Cuál es la traducción? A. you had B. you were having C. you will have D. you have E. you would have 5. tú tendrás 6. tú tendrías 7. tú tenías tú tuviste tú tienes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They're fill in the blank :/ so far I have 5. D 6.E 7.A 8.B 9.C have no idea if they're correct though :/ @InYourHead

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The questions that you gave me only go from #1 to #7. But you also have answers for #8 and #9. I won't be able to tell if 8 and 9 are correct, here.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5. tú tendrás 6. tú tendrías 7. tú tenías 8. tú tuviste 9. tú tienes My apologies the numbers got cut off

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you have answers for 1 through 4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1. D 2. C 3. A 4. B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you don't, I can walk you through it. You got #6 right though.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And you got 1 through 4 right too. Good job,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you :) how did I do on 5-9?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You got #6 right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What I can do is show talk about all the different forms of TENER with you. I can also talk about tenses, in general.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry about the typo.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem about the typo :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So this is what we've got here: A. you had (preterite) B. you were having (imperfect) C. you will have (future) D. you have (present) E. you would have (conditional) For each of those options, we need to know how to conjugate TENER into the correct tense. I put the correct tenses, in parentheses. For example, in order to say "you had," we would need to conjugate TENER into the PRETERITE tense. "Preterite" means "past."

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You did get #6 right. For #6, you had letter E, for " tú tendrías." "Tendrías" is the conditional. It means "you would have." But do you already know about the conditional? Or would you like an explanation for that, too?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohhhhh okay, that makes sense

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you understand how to use the conditional? Because what I'm thinking of doing is going through all of the options. I'll show you how to conjugate TENER into each of those tenses. And I'll also show you WHEN and WHERE to use those tenses, in Spanish. If you have time, and you're interested in my explanation now, we can start.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you wouldn't mind I'd love to :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay. Now, first I gotta tell you that TENER is an irregular verb. It conjugates differently than normal verbs. TENER doesn't follow the same conjugation rules. I'm going to focus on specifically showing you how to conjugate TENER, into all of these tenses. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ We can start with the PRETERITE. Again, PRETERITE means PAST. Here's how we conjugate TENER into the PRETERITE: (Yo) Tuve (Tú) Tuviste (Él/Ella/Usted) Tuvo (Nosotros) Tuvimos (Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes) Tuvieron Let me show you an example: "Yo TUVO una manzana." "I HAD an apple." You see?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now, let's look back at your matching questions. Let's look at letter A. A is "you had." Which one of the numbers means "you had"?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh and if you don't already know, "Tú" means "you."

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7.?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

tú tenías ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We're looking for the preterite. Take a look at the preterite conjugation that I showed you. Do you that right next to "Tu" we have "tuviste"? That means that TUVISTE means YOU HAD.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohhhhh my bad :/ thank you for the help on that!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, so you see.... A would go with #8, where it says "tuviste." Again, "tuviste" means "you had."

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Got it :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'll move onto the IMPERFECT, Letter B. The IMPERFECT is another type of past tense, in Spanish. But the IMPERFECT is used, when we're talking about a past action that was CONSISTENT, and ON GOING. An action that happened on a REGULAR BASIS. For example: When I was little, I HAD many friends. "Cuando yo era niño, yo tenía muchos amigos." Here, let me show you how to conjugate TENER into the IMPERFECT. (Yo) Tenía (Tu) tenías (El/Ella/Usted) Tenía (Nosotros) Teníamos (Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes) Tenían All of these words are in IMPERFECT. They all mean HAD. "Cuando yo era niño, yo tenía muchos amigos." When I was little, I HAD many friends." I used the IMPERFECT, because the fact that I had friends was an ON GOING thing. I had friends, over an EXTENDED PERIOD of time. It WASN'T just one moment in time, you see? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So, let's look at letter B, in your matching. B says "you were having." We're looking for the imperfect. Which number is the IMPERFECT TU form of TENER?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Tenias

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right! it means "you had."

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think I have it now!! :) okay so here are my answers 5. C 6. E 7. B 8. A 9. D??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, so let's move onto the FUTURE tense. The future is all about "will." Like..."I WILL HAVE it." "I WILL do it." ~~~~~~~~~~~ Here's TENER, in the FUTURE tense: (Yo) Tendré (Tu) Tendrás (El/Ella/Usted) Tendrá (Nosotros) Tendremos (Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes) Tendrán It's fairly simple, because they all start with TENDR- and we just have to memorize the correct endings. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So, let's look at letter C. Letter C says "You will have." Can you find which number would mean "you will have"?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are those it???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

number 5 :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes. #5 is correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What did you mean by "are those it"?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think I have the answers figured out, is it 5. C 6. E 7. B 8. A 9. D??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's what I meant :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, those are the correct answers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ahhhh Thank you SO much for the help really, I appreciate it so much

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have to log off now and give the computer to my brother :( Thank you again!!! so so much

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, sure. De nada.
