ow could you use Descartes' rule and the Fundamental Theorem of Algebra to predict the number of complex roots to a polynomial as well as find the number of possible positive and negative real roots to a polynomial?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

descartes rule tells you the number of possible positive / negative roots (an upper bound) not the exact amount..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

fundamental thm. says " every non-constant single-variable polynomial with complex coefficients has at least one complex root." -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fundamental_theorem_of_algebra

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what could be a good example of that ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

.. what do you mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it just says number. so I refer you to the wonderful examples on the wikipedia pages :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright thank you :)
