what do you mean by insertion and origin of a muscle?

The insertion and origin are where the muscle is attached to bones. The distinction between the two is not all that distinct and is somewhat superficial. In general, the insertion end of the muscle is the end that contraction of the muscle actually moves, and the origin is on the bone that remains stiller when the muscle contracts.
