Find the inverse of..?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1359613928022:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let y = \[\sqrt{x-4}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

square both the sides to get y^2 =x-4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

change the equation to \[x=\sqrt{y-4}\] and solve for y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

take -4 on the left side

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But the -4 is in the rt

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u get y^2+4 = x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

replace x by y and y by x u will get the inverse

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what he said

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Still a bit confused with what you do with the -4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have added +4 on both sides so that -4 gets cancel on the right hand side

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So I get 4+x=sqrt y
