Help please factoring 27x^2+18x+3

OpenStudy (slaaibak):

a common factor is 3: 3(9x^2 + 6x + 1) Now we have to factorize (9x^2 + 6x + 1) we have to find something in the form of this: (ax + b)(cx + d) I don't know what method you use, but we know that db = 1 (because the constant term is 1) and ac = 9. We also know ad + bc = 6 Now using inspection etc we get: 3(3x + 1)^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first of all the equation must be equated to zero for factorising. on equating it to zero and solving we get x=-1/3

OpenStudy (slaaibak):

hars.hit, that's completely wrong. There's a difference between solving and factorising. factorising can be done to expressions.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u too have done it

OpenStudy (slaaibak):

no. i have not.
