Would someone explain why you would use a coil condenser? I understand it's to cool the vapors produced by heating a substance but it doesn't look like it collects the condensed liquid. Does it only condense a certain part of the gas evolved?Please don't quote google i'm looking for an actual explanation. Thanks.

Vapors rise and when they come into contact with a cold surface, condense on the surface of the coil and then slide down to where they are colllected. Coa ils are used because coil has a large surface area and is an efficient condenser.
This is used in distillation, or fractional distillation.
