What is the vertex of y = |x + 1| ? (–1, 0) (0, –1) (0, 1) (1, 0) Can you explain? I don't understand how to find a vertex from the given information.

OpenStudy (jamesj):

The vertex is where the graph has a "point". Where does the graph of y = |x+1| have a pointy bit? If you don't know, try and draw the graph and then it will be apparent. And if you don't know how to draw this graph, let's keep on talking

OpenStudy (jamesj):

Hint: here's the graph of y = |x|. It has its 'pointy bit' aka vertex at (0,0)
