theres 2 things you need to know for this problem the stoichiometric ratio given by the balanced equation and the ideal gas law PV=nRT There's several ways to approach the problem: I would suggest you find the number of moles 12.5L of water are using the ideal gas law: PV=nRT then once you know that use the stoichiometric ratio -------------------------------------- aA + bB -> cC lower case are coefficients and upper case are the species so a ratio would be set up like this: \[\frac{ moles of A }{ a}=\frac{ moles ofC }{ c }\] you can then plug things in and solve for your unknown ----------------- once you find the number of moles of methane you need, simply convert to mass (in g). moles=mass/molarmass
