why we say that a vector always contains a scalar?

@ParthKohli

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because a vector always contains a length ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure?

@Akle

If x is a vector, then its length determinant of x is a scalar quantity and determinant of a is always non negative.

Parth (parthkohli):

Yeah, because a scalar is a measure of magnitude, and we do have magnitudes in vectors.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

unless you are talking about ZERO vector.. which has only direction but no magnitude.. but its no physical significance whatsoever So yes.. any vector you consider is basically a a physical quantity with direction..
