find the cordinates of point P which divides the directed line segment AB with corrdinates A(5,-2) and (9,6) in the ratio 3:1?
use ratio formula to solve this...do u knw what is ratio formula?
no srry
ratio formula is: x1k2+x2k1/k1+k2 here k1:k2=3:1 and also the points are given
0k thanks ill try to solve it
try to solve it...u just have to substitute the values of x1 x2 y1 y2 and k1 and k2
would it look like this ? (-11)1+(-1)3/3+1
you have no y varible in the formula
dear @kninja99 now learn it carefully. find the point P(x,y)... to find x .u have the formulas as above and to find y, use formula y1k2+y2k1/k1+k2 this will be the y coordinate... and same way x-coordinate...just put the values of x1 x2 in both the formulas of the coordinates.....
so first you do it where u use the x1 and x2 then change it to useing y1 y2? so its to seperate things to solve for the cordinate points right
yes...to solve for P(x,y) ...if u are going to find x...use x1 and x2 corrdinates and if u are going to find y of point P ,then use y1 and y2
ok ill solve it now
i got (8,4)
@waleed_imtiaz
yes thats absolutely right..so this will be point P(8,4)
thank you sooooo much for your help
my pleasure dear..keep it up
