At a hardware store a bag holds up to 1 pound of nails. Each penny nail (x) weighs 0.05 pounds and each wood nail (y) weighs 0.1 pounds. Which inequality shows the solution for all combinations of the two kinds of nails that will fit in the 1-pound bag? A. y > -1/2x + 10 B. 1/10x + 1/20 y >1 C. y < -1/2x + 10 D. 1/20x + 1/10y > 1

OpenStudy (goformit100):

B. 1/10x + 1/20 y >1

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

B. can't possibly be the correct answer. If it is, I could put a billion wood nails in a 1 lb bag, because 10^9/10 > 1. Check your work, and certainly check the work of anyone who just gives you an answer without showing you how to get it!

this is a question from edgenuity isnt it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what is the answer lol

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Write an equation for the weight of \(x\) penny nails and \(y\) wood nails. Set it to be less than 1 pound.

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

You'll then have to rearrange it a bit to match one of the answer choices. It ought to be easy enough to rule out 2 of them if you think for a second.

Can someone here help me out eliminated two answers already but i not sure which one of these would be in standard form 2x+3y=12 or 5x+5y10.
