Phosphorus-32 has a half-life of 14.0 days. Starting with 8.00 g of ^{32}P, how many grams will remain after 56.0 days?

OpenStudy (jfraser):

56 days is equal to three half-lives (14x3 = 56) so the sample will decay by half three times. What's half of half of half of 8?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

actually, 14x4 = 56. so 4 half lives will occur.. from 8g, it will become 4g, then 2g then 1g, and then finally, 0.5g

OpenStudy (jfraser):

yes. 4, not 3
