Use the substitution method to solve. -4x+9y=9 x-3y=-6

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Start by solving the second equation for x. To do that add 3y to both sides of the second equation. Then replace x in the first equation by what you found x is equal to in the second equation. Now you have an equation in only y, so solve for y. Finally, substitute what y is equal to into either one of the original equations, and solve for x.
