Keep doing trial and error. After you know the x-value that makes the expression equal to zero, then, you divide by (x-a) where a is the value that made the expression equal to zero.

So you can use long division or synthetic division to get something, and then you combine the (x-a) with that value you got when you divided (x-a) with your polynomial.
