-1/2+1/4 im i going to find the lcm and would it be 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what do i do to the top numbers do -1+1 or what that where i get stuck at

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you multiply the numerator of -1/2 by 2, since 2 goes into 4 twice. and you just leave the numerator of 1/4 alone since 4 goes into 4 only once and any number times 1 is itself. then you add them together

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it -1/4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so i have another one its -1/6+3/5 the lmc is 30 so on the top im i going to do -6+5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for -1/6 you'd have to multiply the numerator by 5, since 6 goes into 30 five times. for 3/5 you'd have to multiply the numerator by 6 since 5 goes into 30 six times. do the math real quick and tell me what you get for the numerators
