Medals to them that answer and explain :) A figure on the coordinate plane is translated to the right. What will happen to its coordinates? The x -coordinates will increase. The y -coordinates will increase. The x -coordinates' signs will change. The y -coordinates' signs will change.

Do you have an image?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope that's why I'm having trouble, or else I'd be able to figure it out on my own. :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe it that the x-coordinates will increase

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'd go with that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but it is possible that the x-coordinates' sign changes if it goes from 1st to 2nd quadrant, or vice versa

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but go with my first answer, since they don't explicitly tell you that it changes quadrants

OpenStudy (anonymous):

perhaps both answers are correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x-axis is associated with horizontal movement, and the y-axis is associated with vertical movement.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You were right @ddiez :) Thanks so much!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:) np

if f(x) is your function f(x-c) gets translated to the right c units. If f(x) is your function, f(x+c) gets translated to the left c units.
