Please Help!! I learned how to do this a while back, but can't remember how to do it anymore. I think I did it right, but am not sure: Find the part using the percent equation- What is 0.3 of $8600? I said $25.8. Is this correct? I also have one more question: Use the five-step strategy for solving word problems to find the number described- When 60% of a number is added to the number, the result is 192. What is the number. I dont remember how to do this. Plz help! thanks!

what subject algebra geometry what

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

I think this is pre-algebra or basic algebra.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

pre- algebra, i guess.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what grade math are you in

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Okay, for the first one, you just multiply 0.3 to 8600.

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Unless it was 0.3% of 8600, in which case, you'd be correct. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@loser123456789 , 7th, @terenzreignz yup' it was 0.3 of 8600. Thanks!

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Well, then, multiply them, nothing too fancy. I'll help you out in your second question in a bit...

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Ready for question 2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok let me work on your second

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, 2 both of u.

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Okay, @lillybeth123 Have you begun basic Algebra?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dunno. is it like pre- algebra? if yes, then i probably have started basic algebra.

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Can you work at finding unknowns?

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Say, 4x + 5 = 13

OpenStudy (anonymous):

solve for x? Yeah I can do that. x=8.

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Okay :) So now, for question 2, we let x be the value we're looking for. Get it so far?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

um that is not correct youfrgot to divide by 4

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

My bad. Yeah, @lillybeth123 You seem to have solved for 4x, which indeed, is equal to 8, so what's x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am afraid I cant help with this question I am ok at algebra but I am not great so I am sorry but this is just to hard I will help if I can but probably wont be able to so I will just stay and do what I can

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

You were able to spot an error, though, I didn't :) Don't be so quick to evaluate yourself :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, what nxt.

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

First, what's the value of x in the equation I gave you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks terenzreignz

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@lillybeth123 are you still there

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry, have to go, see ya in a few hours, ill be here @ 2:00, see ya later.
