#1: The following question appears on a quiz: "A 1.0 L balloon has a pressure of 153 kPa at a temperature of 60°C. How many moles of gas are inside the balloon?" A student answers 0.31 moles. Which of the following explanations is true? A. The student used the wrong value for R, and the answer should be 5.60 moles. B. The student used the wrong temperature units, and the correct answer should be 0.06 moles. C. The student's answer is correct. D. The student used the wrong volume, and the answer should be 5.60 moles. **my answer: B is that right?? @aaronq

#2: You have a balloon containing 1 L of air at STP in a vacuum chamber. What will the volume of the balloon be when you reduce the pressure by half and increase the temperature to 373 K? (Use the combined gas law PV/T = k or P1V1/T1 = P2V2/T2.) A. 0.68 L B. 1.46 L C. 2.00 L D. 2.73 L **my answer: D. 2.73 L is that right?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

#1 is incorrect, how did you solve it?

#3: How many moles of a gas sample are in a 10.0 L container at 298 K and 203 kPa? (Use the ideal gas law PV = nRT with R = 8.31 L-kPa/mol-K.) A. 0.60 moles B. 0.82 moles C. 1.22 moles D. 1.66 moles **my answer: B. 0.82 moles is this correct?

#4: When you heat a 50.0 L cylinder containing 10.0 moles of oxygen to 333 K, what is the pressure inside? (Use the ideal gas law PV = nRT with R = 8.31 L-kPa/mol-K.) A. 5.46 kPa B. 12.5 kPa C. 166 kPa D. 553 kPa **my answer; D. 553 kPa is that right??

OpenStudy (aaronq):

#2 is right

OpenStudy (aaronq):

oh wait #1 i used the R for L atm, I'm not sure idk know it off by heart but if you used plugged stuff in right then it should work

OpenStudy (anonymous):

aww darn :( for 1 i did this: PV=nRT P=153kPa V= 1.0L R= Gas Constant (.0821 L x atm/mol x K) T=333K And i kinda used them to solve for n and i got .055mol which rounds to 0.06mol. idk if i did it right.. kinda confused myself lol..... :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait so is #1 right? ;/

OpenStudy (aaronq):

lol #3 is good

OpenStudy (aaronq):

idk if 1 is right i didn't calculate it

OpenStudy (aaronq):

yes 1 is B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay haha :) yay!! what about 4 and 5? :)

OpenStudy (aaronq):

4 is good (Y) ...you haven't posted a fifth haha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

aweosme!! and lol my bad!! hahaha i forgot :( lol one sec... sorry!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

#5: Which of the following properties can be attributed to an ideal gas? A. The collisions of the particles are elastic. B. The particles move in definite patterns. C. The particles occupy a significant volume. D. The particles move at different velocities. **ym answer: A is that right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol posted it haha =P

OpenStudy (aaronq):

yeah, 5 is good

OpenStudy (anonymous):

awesome!!!! :) thank you soooooo much!!!! :)

OpenStudy (aaronq):

no prob!:)
