Well you can see that B is at (0,0,1) and since O is at the origin, B is directly above O. Therefore, B can only be 1 unit away from O.

yes. its just the distance formula for 3d points. Distance = sqrt((x2-x1)^2 + (y2-y1)^2 +(z2-z1)^2)
