f(x) = x4 + 4x2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Write a linear factorization of the function.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[f(x)=4x(1+x)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f(x) = x2(2x + i)2 f(x) = x2(x + 2i)2 f(x) = x2 (x + 2i)(x - 2i) f(x) = x2 ( 2x + i)( 2x - i)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which one of these is it cuz i cant figure it out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh wait, is the problem: \[f(x)=x^4+4x^2\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

AH HA!! Ok... Factor out the x^2 and then it is the sum of two squares in the imaginary plane. \[f(x)=x^2(x+2i)(x-2i)\] ...messy.
