What does s equal in s² when finding the area of the base for a square pyramid. Does that make sense? So I am finding the area of the base for my square pyramid. The formula for the finding the area of a base of a square pyramid is: B = s² I am trying to figure out what s is. Here are the dimensions of my square pyramid: Length: 7 cm, Height: 13 cm, Width: 16 cm PLZZZZ HELP!

Okay sure. One sec.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wait.. well im doing a worksheet and I have to find the volume of my pyramid. The length is 7, height 16, width 13

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And the formula for finding the volume is B = s². I dont know what s has to be...

Are you positive that it's a square pyramid and that your formula is correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

YES. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im looking at my book and thats what it says but it doesnt say what s is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got a different formula, which is \[V=\frac{ 1 }{ 3 }Bh\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okayyy... i got that too but i need to know base first.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You need to know the area of the base, which is what the capital b stands for. But you do know what the h is sooo.. do base*height to figure out the area of the base. Can you draw out the shape?

I'm trying to help you as best as I can.
