OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which of these is not a conservative force and does not have a form of potential energy connected with it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

gravity electric attraction and repulsion friction magnetic attraction and repulsion

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know what conservative force is?

OpenStudy (oneowone):

Head up: Magnetic + Friction are not conservative. Gravity is. Not sure about electric I think its not.

OpenStudy (oneowone):

heads*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@OneOwOne :O do you even know what conservative force is? :O

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks i thought it was gravity just needed confirmation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

waht?! :O..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't think you have understood it ... clearly OneowONe hasn't :-/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know what a conservative force is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i don't

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then how do you possibly intend to answer that question?! :-/.. don't you think you need to learn about it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you trying to help or give me a dictionary ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have the answer already

OpenStudy (anonymous):

rath do you have an answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea.. friction is the answer.. but conservative force is a beautiful concept.. so i thought you might be interested in learning .. even i didn't know magnetic force was not conservative :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep. Magnetic force is not conservative either. A brilliant lecture supplement by MIT ocw illustrates this beautifully: http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/physics/8-02-electricity-and-magnetism-spring-2002/lecture-notes/lecsup41.pdf

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well i hate physics sooo i really don't care for it as much...well i care about getting a good grade but i still hate it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

aww.. hope physics will treat you better in the future. Good luck :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its not your fault.. you just had a bad teacher :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

^

OpenStudy (oneowone):

@Mashy I'm not sure what it is... Reviewing it as we speak! But I know that magnetic interaction is not conservative...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no no.. i was wrong.. i thought magnetic interaction was conservative.. btu yes you are right.. its not :)
