best anwser gets medal.. Suppose you spend $23 and you pay with a $50 bill. The cashier gives your change in bills. List all the different ways you can receive your correct change if you will not take more than 10 bills and the cashier only has 1s, 5s, and 10s. Show your work. ( there are 4 combos)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can tell you there's more than four combos right now.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Yeah there are actually 7 ways to do this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh.. o.O i was told ther ewas only 4

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

odd, well here are the 7 ways 2 ones + 1 five + 1 twenty ... 4 bills total 2 ones + 1 five + 2 tens ... 5 bills total 2 ones + 3 fives + 1 ten ... 6 bills total 2 ones + 5 fives ... 7 bills total 7 ones + 1 twenty ... 8 bills total 7 ones + 2 tens ... 9 bills total 7 ones + 2 fives + 1 ten ... 10 bills total each way adds up to $27 (since you'll get $27 in change)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

this is just something you do by trial and error so you would maybe list out a table of combos until you find all the possible combos

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, I found it by trial and error. You just have to hope, I'd imagine, there isn't too many.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

two 10, one 5 and two 1 Explanation: 50 less 23 its 27…how many bills the cashier have to gives you ?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

not sure what you're asking here...

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

oh my bad, i somehow had a 20 in there...it should be just 1s, 5s, and 10s let me fix that real quick 2 ones + 1 five + 2 tens ... 5 bills total 2 ones + 3 fives + 1 ten ... 6 bills total 2 ones + 5 fives ... 7 bills total 7 ones + 2 tens ... 9 bills total 7 ones + 2 fives + 1 ten ... 10 bills total so there are 5 ways now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

theres one more, according to my teacher

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

one more? I thought you said there were 4...I list out 5 here

OpenStudy (anonymous):

apperntly theres 6 o_O

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

hmm odd

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I think that's all the ways, but let me check again

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

no I still only count 5

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

maybe there's a typo somewhere?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im getting 5 aswell... but thank you

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you'll just have to bring it up with him

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that i will... thnk you

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
