to my Knowledge.....it was  isolated in Chromosome #17, one of the 23 pairs of chromosomes found in most human cells.....There are at least two majors genes (BRCA1 and BRCA2) that when they mutate can cause breast cancer.....These genes can be passed from parent to child, ....Everyone has these genes. If there’s a fault or mutation in one of them, the risk of breast cancer is high. 
These faulty genes also increase the risk of ovarian cancer. A blood test can identify whether you have a fault in one of these high-risk genes. ....
