Explain why the pressure exerted by a gas does not depend on the type of the gas.

Because, according to the Kinetic Theory of gases, the pressure is proportional to the number of particles of the gas. Other things like volume of the particles or intermolecular forces are presumed to be zero. So 100 particles of O2 would exert the same pressure as 100 particles of neon.
