Can somebody help me? Evaluate the series (n + 4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\sum_{1}^{4}(n+4)\] confirm please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah but its n-1 on the bottom

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\sum_{1}^{4}n+\sum_{1}^{4}4\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you know that \[\sum_{1}^{n}n=\frac{n(n+1)}{2}\] and you also know \[\sum_{1}^{n}4= 4n\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you see the answer now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

solve for n=4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know how to do this though.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4x4 =16 and (4x5)/2=10, the total is 26

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):
