OpenStudy (marissag):

An 8-passenger Learjet has a force of gravity of 6.6x10^4 [down] acting on it as it travels at a constant velocity of 6.4x10^2 km/h [W]. If the forward thrust provided by the engines is 1.3x10^4 N [W], determine: a.) the upward lift on the plane b.) the force due to air resistance on the plane

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what?!.. thats wrong.. Since the plane is travelling with constant velocity, the force of air resistance = the force of thrust ..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That sounds right, sorry its late and I was using the equation for fluid motion...our prof told us you could use it for air resistance

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1361950845037:dw| since the plan is not accelerating in the horizontal direction.. the forces there should cancel out Similarly since the plane is also not accelerating in the vertical direction, the forces there too cancel out!
