can someone please explain to me when you would use an open circle or a closed circle, and when you would shade to the right or left, to graph an inequality on the number line. Im confused!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You use an open circle when that point does not equal that value, like if you were doing x>0 or x<0. You use a closed circle if it has an equal sign, as in \[\le or\]

greater than/equal to

OpenStudy (anonymous):

shade to the right if its greater than, to the left if its less than. Do you have an example problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you so much!!! :) So if I were to graph x ≥ 6, the graph would have a closed circle on 6 shading to the right. Does that sound right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry for the late response, I had to take the doggy out :)
