with?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

multiply and simplify 15x^3y^2/z X z/5xy^3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

huh, what grade r u in??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

121 math why?

OpenStudy (zehanz):

Let's try to write it a little neater, to see what's going on:\[\frac{15x^3y^2}{z} \cdot \frac{z}{5xy^3}\]Now, to multiply the fractions, you multiply the numerators, and then the denominators. Then you look for common factors. They can be divided out.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3x^2y/z??

OpenStudy (zehanz):

Do the multiplication:\[\frac{ 15x^3y^2z }{ 5xy^3z }=\frac{5 x y^2 z \cdot 3 x^2}{5 xy^2z \cdot y}=\frac{3x^2}{y}\]So there were a lot of common factors! I wrote them first, so yoy can easily recognise them. They cancel out and you have left 3x²/y.
