Objects in free fall near the surface of Earth experience constant speed. constant velocity. constant acceleration. constant distance.

OpenStudy (shane_b):

Think of each one: 1) constant speed: No...objects that are falling increase in speed as the fall (until they reach their terminal velocity). 2) constant velocity: No...if their speed is increasing, the velocity is always changing 3) constant distance: No...they are obviously getting closer to the earth so the distance cannot be constant. 4) constant acceleration: Yes, near the earth's surface acceleration is essentially constant.

Shane_B.. why did yo have to put in the bracket.. UNTIL THEY REACH TERMINAL VELOCITY? :P??.. cause clearly air resistance is neglected here.. if it wasn't.. then you couldn't say constant acceleration, cause acceleration would keep on decreasing !!

OpenStudy (shane_b):

@Mashy: Good point. I did not assume negligible air resistance but if I did, then the downward acceleration wouldn't be constant.
