so you add 4 to both sides....now you have x/3 = 15 multiply both sides by 3 which leave x = 45 now check....45/3? is 15...- 4 = 11 so yes

Okay so combine like terms 2x - 4x = -2x 1 - 9 = -8 so we have -2x - 8 =12 now add 8 to both sides -2x = 20 x = -10
