Okay, so as the problem states, you want to break it up into "familiar figures" or all triangles, rectangles and trapezoids. I'm assuming you know the area formula's for each of those, and if not, let me know. In the problem they've already broken it up into recognizable, simple, geometric shapes. So we just need to identify the side lengths that we need to solve the problem. In particular, the bases of all of the triangles and the larger base of the trapezoid.
