what does "chromatin condences into chromosomes" mean?

chromatin is "unravelled" DNA (although there is a structure to it) and it basically looks like string, it condenses into chromosomes by wrapping around proteins called "histones" these make other structures which wrap it more and more.

yes, it comes at the beginning of mitosis (prophase)
